The recent “Have Your Say” event with West Berkshire Police at the Memorial Hall was well attended and offered an opportunity for local residents to voice their concerns on policing in Lambourn.
Five police officers, a representative from Sovereign Homes, and twelve members of the public attended the session, as well as social media and email submissions, which were duly discussed.
Speeding and Drugs were the foremost topics in the conversation, the representative of West Berkshire Police went into considerable detail explaining the challenges faced in policing these matters.
As a result, several potential strategies were suggested where the community could assist the Police with gathering the necessary evidence to provide a realistic prospect of countering the issues discussed.
The police advised that if the public witnesses a transfer of drugs or cash, they should call 999 and report it immediately, or if unable to do so at the time, click here for the link to report a crime with Thames Valley Police or to make an anonymous report click here for Crimestoppers.
The Police re-iterated that it is important to report crime to help them recognise a pattern of crime in the area, if crimes aren’t reported they will have to assume there is not an issue.
The use of redeployable CCTV was suggested by the Police, this will be investigated by the Parish Council as a potential option as it can be attached to the existing CCTV equipment currently used. The equipment could then be deployed at the Old Cricket Field, the church cemetery and Mill Lane Play area.
