Lambourn Parish Council has teamed up with the British Horse Society (BHS) to be part of their award winning road safety campaign: “Dead Slow.   This important initiative aims to help protect horses and riders on local roads following the tragic death of a racehorse in the village earlier this year.

The “Dead Slow campaign will see signs installed across Lambourn for the next few weeks.  To help spread the message, Alan Hiscox the Director of Safety at the BHS will be attending the Lambourn Open Day.  Alan is extremely passionate about educating not just drivers, but riders too. His time in the Mounted Police has given him invaluable experience.

The central part of the campaign involves putting up easy-to-understand signs around Lambourn. These signs clearly say “Dead Slow“, reminding drivers that they must drive at no more than 10 miles an hour when passing horses.

The campaign message is simple: slow down to give horses and their riders plenty of room and time.

By working together, we all hope this campaign will significantly improve the safety of horses and riders in the area.
